Thawwai

A relief sculpture of a goddess called Thawwai has ben discovered in Chellappanendhal, near Tiruppachethi, Sivaganga district. 

It belongs to the early Pandian period and worshipped by Tamils between 6th century common era to 10 the century common era. 

The seated goddess is flanked by children, Maanthan and Maanthi in a stone panel that measures 2 feet by three feet.  
Thawwai carries a flower in her right hand, her left hand rests on her thigh. Her son sits at her right, her daughter to her left.
